I realize I haven’t posted here in forever, but I don’t want the blog to die, so here I go.

Just wanted to share some quotes that I’ve heard from various places. I might have told you about them before, but here they are anyway.

GRACE = God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense

Don’t tell God how big your problems are; tell your problems how big God is.

Also wanted to share with you the message from last Sunday’s church service, which I found very profound and well carried out. It was on Romans 5, in which verse 1 says, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…”

The pastor said that the word “peace” is a much stronger word in the Bible than in everyday use. Here he gave us an interesting analogy to describe the concept of “peace with God”.

The pastor does not like flights. There would be times when he’d be travelling with a friend who LOVED flights, and each of these flights only lasted half an hour, not long at all. Every time they travelled together, the friend would sit by the window, have his eyes glued to the glass and marvel at the phenomenon of flying. He would point out points of interest from the sky an be excited like a little child. The pastor was not amused. He would grab a newspaper or a book and read as if he was on a train or a car, anything but a flight. In the end, the flight arrived safely. The friend FELT at peace during the entire flight; the pastor didn’t. Which one of them landed safely in the end? Both of them. So the way you FEEL has nothing to do with the end result.

It’s the same when we talk about our peace with God. Sometimes we FEEL worried, we FEEL agitated, we just FEEL as if we’re not at peace with God. What if we sinned? What if we don’t read the Bible enough? What if we don’t pray enough? What if we’re not sure if God loves us? What if, what if, what if?

This ties in with verse 2, “…through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.”

WE STAND IN GRACE. Because we believe, we are now “standing in grace” and everything that we worry about, everything we’re unsure about – none of that matters, because we have FAITH, we believe. And in the end, we’re AT PEACE with God, no matter what we FEEL sometimes. Peace is a FACT, not a FEELING.

I’m sure it made more sense when the pastor explained it, but I hope this inspires you slightly as I found the message super useful and memorable. Till next time!
